I like this one:

What two songs [actually, it's three--see below] were played in every year of the 70s and 80s except 1976?

Guesses must include both [all] songs to be correct, and partial feedback will not be given. One guess per forumite. Use of databases is cheating, but feel free to consult recordings in your collection. Good luck!

Full disclosure: I figured out one on my own, which is what led me to ask the question. I only realized there was a second [...and a third] after checking Tell's (and my) favorite database.

Crap--I was soooo looking forward to that Forum Chiffarobe! Or, is it a Credenza this time?

Anyhow, best of luck to the rest!

Trust me, this is only on the basis of looking at my 75 shows to confirm what was played that year, and likely played in EVERY other yr...so by elimination, here are my FINAL three (still no "cheating"):

M&MU
Truckin
BIODTLine

Well??? I think those are the only ones possible?! Amazing if it IS Truckin!

EDIT for the judges: note that I posted my "two guesses" and then you changed it, so I figure my "three guesses" are a legit addendum. Esp in the absence of cheating, which is soooo tempting...

We...have...a...winner!

The judges grant that Tell's first two guesses didn't count, since that was indeed before the question was corrected to three. The judges also applaud Tell for figuring out the correct approach to the question, since 1975 was of course the bottleneck year.

BTW, I said two at first because of all the songs they played in 1975, the only one I didn't bother to check was Me and My Uncle, since they played it so damned many times I figured they had to have played it in 1976. But once it appeared in Tell's first set of two guesses, I figured I ought to check just to make sure, and turns out they didn't play it in 1976--one more reason to love that year.

Congratulations, Tell! No one can take this little thought-trophy away from you.

Funny about M&MU: it was the only one from memory that I KNEW they played in 75, 6-17, and then, of all the shows I went to in 76, I couldn't recall it...so, because I knew they played it so many times, it was my first guess, which I thought was going to be wrong (like you, fig'd they'd have snuck it in sometime in 76). I was just picking it on the basis of knowing it'd been played EVERY yr...thought many others would've been skipped once in a while...til I focused on 75 completely, I was at a loss after that first guess.

Now, I guess I like your trivia games afterall (don't you hate that?). I was in an esp good mood cause the Lakers haven't completely folded up--yet.

And yes, other than that one show in 1975 (when Bobby said something like, "We're playing all the old favorites we can remember...You wouldn't applaud if you knew what that meant"), they shelved Truckin' from 1974 till the Englishtown show in September of 1977.

OK, will take a legit, rapid fire, top of the head stab:

CCS
M&MU

(I woulda picked PITB, but recall hearing it in 76; could be wrong about that one though...?).

This was fast--no cheating too...I hope I win big this time...

Nope--at least not according to my track listing on the shows I have, and saw--thought of that one too. So, I think I got it down below though, by just going on what was played in 75--that was the key.

Ha--I thought of those, BUT I don't think I heard them in 75...so I dropped them.

But, if strat's suggestions are not cheating, this causes me to suggest one more, to go with my three:

Truckin?

I realized when reading his that 75 is the KEY!

See above to find the winner. Or don't, and see if you can figure it out on your own first.
